There's a lot of neglected vinyl around Philly, which I find on trash days, garage sales, sidewalk sales, bargain bins, thrift stores, when people move, clean out their basements or donate them to me. <3
Vinyl records are made with a toxic material, PVC, and only a couple facilities in the US are equipped for the process so upcycled vinyl records have the least amount of negative impact on the environment.
NO! This is a trash to treasure passion project, so everything I make on my own has to be scratched up and unplayable. I play my playable records!
This is one small way to reduce consumer waste, by way of upcycled vinyl records handmade into earrings and accessories so all that music doesn’t end up in a landfill.
I’m sentimental. I love preserving and creating wearable memories. I want people to be able to enjoy, honor, AND rock the memories of both the musical creators and how much love went into the original pieces, and also the listener, and all the memories they created with that music.
Because more well-known records are likely to be treasured and taken care of. Heavy hitters are VERY rare to find damaged! Pieces that feature accents and detailed shapes are also more complex and require more craftwork.
