What kind of fine jewelry are we creating? FINYL fine jewelry features vinyl as a separate design element, such as an inlay, cabochon, or specially shaped component, set into precious metal jewelry. Gemstones may also be included. The vinyl and metal are not melted or mixed together. Traditional fine jewelry does not require vinyl.

What earring size do you have in mind? Any metals or gemstones in mind? Is there particular music, or do you love vinyl as a material? A note about the vinyl: Smaller designs, including wedding bands, engagement rings, and delicate bracelets, may use the vinyl itself without the original record label. Larger designs may allow a portion of the label, depending on size and construction. We will discuss what is possible before work begins.

Do you have a vinyl color preference? Colored vinyl is limited and subject to availability. Specific colors and records cannot be guaranteed.

Would you like to supply your own record? My artwork uses damaged or unplayable records. Newer albums can be harder to find damaged or at a reasonable price. I’ll check my collection and make a brief availability search. If I can’t find a suitable copy, I’ll email you to discuss options, including sourcing a record yourself and sending it to me. If you’d like me to source it, we’ll agree on a budget and deposit before I search further. Record sourcing is an additional cost.
Tell me about the record you would like to supply. Artist, album, format, and condition if you know them. You may also purchase a new copy specifically for your artwork; I do not cut playable records from my own collection. We’ll confirm the plan before you send a record.
What size artwork are you imagining? These are approximate artwork sizes before framing.
5 × 5 inches or smaller: I can use a 7-inch 45 or a 12-inch LP.
Larger than 5 × 5 inches: A 12-inch LP gives more room for a larger vinyl design. A single 45 will be smaller in proportion to a larger frame, but multiple 45s, memorabilia, or keepsakes can help build the composition and fill the space.
